FUJIMAX JDM Car Rental will officially begin offering rentals for the 2026 Toyota GR KART (hereafter "GR KART") starting November 2, 2026.

Bringing the Joy of Track Driving to Our Customers

As a rental shop specializing in classic Japanese sports cars (JDM), our goal has always been to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy true sports driving. However, pushing a car to its performance limits on public roads is illegal. On the other hand, bringing rental vehicles onto a racetrack presents various obstacles, which is why we strictly prohibit track driving with our standard fleet.

To solve this, we are introducing the GR KART—a purpose-built circuit machine. Rentals will be hosted at Sonic Park Ajimu, a premier racing kart circuit in Usa City, Oita Prefecture, giving customers an extraordinary experience of driving full-throttle on a real racetrack.

Gaku Fujimatsu, manager of FUJIMAX JDM Car Rental, is an active racing kart driver who has competed in both the All-Japan Kart Championship and the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship. Serving as an instructor on-site, he ensures that even first-time track drivers can safely and confidently enjoy controlling a genuine racing machine.

An Entry-Level Racing Kart Built by Toyota

The GR KART is an entry-level racing kart launched by Toyota Motor Corporation in September 2026.

Slightly more compact than a conventional racing kart, it is powered by a general-purpose 4-stroke 215cc single-cylinder engine. While its maximum output is modestly rated at 7 hp, the ultra-lightweight chassis and rich torque deliver impressive acceleration, reaching a top speed of 80 km/h.

Featuring a kart-specific frame structure without suspension, a lightweight build, and unique geometry tuning, the GR KART delivers exceptionally sharp handling. The light steering effort allows drivers of all skill levels—including youth and female drivers—to enjoy nimble cornering with ease.

Equipped with high-performance Brembo brakes, an ultralight curb weight of just 83 kg, and a low overall height of 670 mm, the kart provides exceptional cornering stability, letting you experience performance characteristics that regular road cars simply cannot offer.

The GR KART features adjustable steering tilt and sliding pedals, allowing quick adjustments to fit drivers of various builds. Our rental kart accommodates drivers with heights between 145 cm and 185 cm, and weights up to 100 kg.

Because driving takes place entirely off public roads, no driver's license is required, and drivers aged 13 and above can participate.

Sports Driving Experience at One of Japan's Largest Karting Circuits

Rentals for our GR KART take place at Sonic Park Ajimu in Usa City, Oita Prefecture.

Boasting a total length of 1,080 meters, Sonic Park Ajimu is one of Japan’s largest racing kart tracks. Its standout feature is a dramatic 6-meter elevation change, combining a 170-meter main straight with technical, challenging corner sections.

Sonic Park Ajimu previously hosted the All-Japan Kart Championship, where former F1 drivers such as Kamui Kobayashi and Kazuki Nakajima once raced. As the largest karting circuit in Kyushu, it continues to host numerous races and events each year.

The circuit is located within the "Kazoku Ryokomura Ajimu" multi-recreation complex, offering great accessibility—less than a 10-minute drive from the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway Ajimu IC. The complex features hotels, hot springs, restaurants, and the famous "Ajimu Winery," highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.

Professional Guidance from an Experienced Instructor

Every GR KART rental includes instruction from shop manager and former All-Japan Kart Championship driver Gaku Fujimatsu. He will carefully guide you through circuit rules, track etiquette, driving safety, and techniques to improve your lap times.

Even complete beginners with no prior track experience can enjoy a safe, smooth, and exciting sports driving experience.

Whether you want to hone your skills solo or share the kart with friends to compete for the best lap time, experience the thrill of motorsports with our GR KART!
